Good behavior and social experiments.

I keep coming up with fantastic blog posts while driving in my car, but then forget all about them when I get home.  For my birthday someone should get me one of those voice recorder things that help Alzheimer's patients remember where they put their wife, toothbrush, codeine, etc.

I'll tell you though, this summer I have been on my best behavior.  Sure, I've been actively involved in social experiments, but only for the good of the people.  I'm anxious to reveal my findings, but not until next year.

Promises kept: Documentary Film Review Part II

So, I've been a little lazy with the blogging.  Happens to everyone.  Once again I've returned to tell you what's good so you don't have to slog through the crap.

Hell House- These crazy, churchy-types don't shock me anymore.  I've become immune.  I fast forwarded through most of this one to get to the punchlines.  I thought This American Life covered the bases on this one, listen to that.  Don't watch.

Killer at Large- This was an interesting enough film about obesity.  Watch it.

Girl 27- I enjoyed this one.  I thought it was a simple, honest look at what sexual assault can do to a person.  Watch it.

Witch Hunt- This is one of those justice-done-wrong kind of flicks.  I'm always a little fascinated and horrified by such things.  Worth watching.

Keep the River on Your Right: A modern cannibal tale- I loved this film.  The man who it's about, Tobias Schneebaum is fascinating and wonderful.  If I ever make a documentary I want it to be like this one.  Watch it.

Body of War- I nearly grabbed a sign and started a war protest infront of my building after watching this.  I feel guilty for not caring more.  Don't watch.

Private Practices: The story of a sex surrogate- Silliness.  No one buys this.  We all know what prostitution is, do you think we were born yesterday?  Don't watch.

Grizzly Man- This film got a lot of talk.  Do you feel curious as to what happens when you go out and play with a wild grizzly bear??... No??... you're not an idiot?... you know EXACTLY what happens when you go out and play with a wild grizzly bear??... Well, then you probably know what happens to the moron this movie is about.  So, unless the voice of the egotistical Wegner Herzog makes you cream your pants, don't watch.

Food, Inc.- I'm on a real food kick myself.  I'm exceedingly smart, so I already knew all the info this movie presented, but you're not me.  So, you should seriously watch this film.  I feel cheesey saying it, but this film is important.

Following Sean- This was a bit of a snoozefest.  Don't bother.

The Loss of Nameless Things- I've watched several documentaries on brain injuries, and this has been my favorite so far.  It really portrays what sort of things are lost in a brain injury, which I don't believe the public at large easily comprehends.  As an equestrian brain injury is a topic which comes up too often.  I hope that my fellow horsey-friends will see this film and reflect on what it may mean for them.  Watch it.

There you have it.  You're welcome.

Thoughts.

Quote from a John Denvers video posted on youtube: "John Denver is not given the credit he deserves. He must have been one of the greatest song writers AND SINGERS of the last century, but so few people appreciated his work. I don't know why. I have seldom heard anything betetrt han his work.- andyandymax"

Really now?  Why do people say things like this??  This one video has over 3 million views, for a man who's been dead for over 10 years.  He won numerous music awards.  Maybe you, sir, do not give him the credit he "deserves"?  I, for one, find John Denvers boring.

I keep on voting, and they keep not counting my vote.  I think Bill Hicks said something witty about chosing the puppet on the left, or the puppet on the right.  That pretty much sums it up.

"Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves."
Bill Hicks
 That also sums it up.

It's a little sad that Bill Hicks died over 15 years ago and his comedy is still so relevent today.  Perhaps he was before his time, but I'd hate to think we aren't progressing.  Shouldn't things begin to feel out of date? Are we living in circles?

The problem with global warming: Totally Solved.

I was feeling very altruistic on my drive home the other day and was trying to come up with a solution for global warming.  So, I thought deeply about the problem.

The real problem is... global warming guilt.  And where does this guilt come from?  The media telling us we should care about future generations.

I have a 4 step problem with global warming solution:

1. Don't have kids
2. Don't become attached to any younger people

3. Don't become attached to any long-lived animals such as koi or tortoises
4. Don't find yourself liking any trees or plants or anything.  I suggest working up a good hatred towards nature and going outside.

I also suggest you don't get doe-eyed when you see polar bears.  Believe me, they don't care about you.

As for any current global warming problems?  I'VE never SEEN a tsunami, so I'm not even sure they exist.

Guilt resolved.
